Review: Ibis Budget Hotel Toulouse Blagnac Airport

When I had a super-early 7 am flight out of Toulouse’s Blagnac Airport I couldn’t be bothered to sleep in the airport (yes, that’s a thing), and I felt like getting up in the wee hours of the morning would be about the same. So I opened my trusty Booking.com app, and found the Ibis Budget Hotel Toulouse Blagnac Airport, which offers a 3-bed room for as little as €38.40 (no singles available…).

Location & Getting There

Getting from the airport to the hotel is straightforward: simply follow the tram tracks for about 20 minutes and you’ll see the Ibis at a big roundabout.

From the city, take the tram T2 towards the Airport, get off at Daurat (one stop before the last), and walk back for about 5 minutes to said roundabout.

Even though there is a 24-hour reception you might have to use the house phone to call somebody in.

Staff was friendly while not overflowing with information. I should assume that most guests only stay one night.

Rooms & Facilities

This being on of the modern generation of Ibis Budget places, everything was simple but clean and small details – like fresh colors and little messages on some of the doors – made the house more inviting.

The three beds in my room (no. 105) comprises a queen and a bunk above the head of the queen bed. There was a proper duvet with cotton cover.

The ensuite toilet was in its own room (albeit without a lock on the door) while the small wash basin and the generous shower were separated from the beds only by the double-sided mirror with a small vanity. The furniture was completed by a TV in a corner, five hangers, and three hooks.

For myself, this was plenty. However, I wouldn’t want to have to share the space with two others for more than a day.

My room looked out onto the parking lot. A black-out blind kept out the searing summer sun; so that I barely needed to switch on the beautifully silent a/c unit.

The double-glazed windows were making the traffic noise bearable but didn’t cancel out the trucks and motorbikes accelerating.

Finally, the Internet worked perfectly fine.

Food & Drinks

Breakfast is available for €6.15 from 4:30 in the morning but I wouldn’t hold my breath for it.

This being a budget hotel there is neither a restaurant nor a bar. However, there is a microwave, which the guests may use for free, and – if you are very desperate – you can buy a microwave meal from reception for €5.

Alternatively, I would suggest heading over to the airport: in addition to some (pricey) snack bars and restaurants, there is a tiny Casino supermarket. At least the selection of microwave meals is better and they are cheaper.

And of course, some of the surrounding hotels – like the Pullman right next door – have restaurants and bars you can visit as well.
