2012-07-18 – West Bank, Luxor, Egypt, a set on Flickr.
The West bank in Luxor boasts some remarkable archaeological sights: the Necropolis of Theben with the Valleys of the Kings and of the Queens, and the Temple of Hatshepsut.
Photographing in the Valley of the Kings is not allowed. That’s why you won’t find any pictures of it here. You’ll just have to go and see it for yourself.
King Hatshepsut was actually a queen who is said to have cross-dressed so that she wouldn’t be stripped of her power. But what a lasting legacy she left to Egypt! It was her who first ventured down the Red Sea to Somalia. Not only did she bring back tree but also donkeys which to this day remain a very common sight in Egypt.
