What can you expect?
Abdullah is a Berber man who seems to have started building something like a Berber house for tourists and now can’t stop. You won’t find a straight corner. The stairs are not suitable for anyone with difficulties to walk. And even I (at 1,65m) struggled not to hit my head moving from one room to the other. But venturing through the house you’ll be amazed that around every corner there seems to be another gem of a room or lounge hidden. Or you opt – as we did – to roll out your mat and your sleeping bag on one of the roofs to sleep under a blanket of stars.
So have a look around the house and then decide over a berber whisky (mint tea) where you want to sleep – room, lounge, roof… If you want to one of Abdullah’s brothers will prepare a tajine for you (let them know in advance so they can get the ingredients). They are also more than happy to join you for a little evening entertainment playing drums, singing,… But be aware that Abdullah will ask whether you have any of the stuff to barter with that Muslims aren’t supposed to have (if you know what I mean you know what I mean and will come prepared).
Facilities
Showers are hot but cost 10DH. The restrooms are clean. There is Wi-Fi (right by the entrance – ask Abdullah’s brothers for help if you can’t find the spot).
Outside world
The most stunning part of Todra Gorge is roughly 1km from the house up the road. Ask for a rock climbing tour.
